We launched our new blog for grandparents today! We have named it GrandparentsTLC.com! We offer advice, ideas, and tips in three areas we call TLC: Technology, Loving, and Connecting. We show you technology that can help increase your love for your grandchildren by helping you connect with them in fun new ways. We review cool technologies such as websites, services, and gadgets. We teach with ”how to” articles and video tutorials. Our approach is to make things as easy as possible, step by step.
We have chosen the domain name for our new website for grandparents. GrandparentsTLC.com. It's a warm sounding name, easy to remember, and about as short as can be. It includes the keyword grandparent in the domain name.
We are getting the new site up and running very quickly. It is starting out as our blog for showing grandparents ideas to connect with their grandchildren, with a focus on modern technology. The website will grow to encompass most, if not all, of the Website for Grandparents features defined in the Grandparent Project.
So now we need to refine the tag line (like a sub-title) that will go at the top of the website underneath the title "Grandparents TLC". The tag line states the purpose of the site. It should be short and catchy. It must contain the following three words, for which the TLC acronym stands for:
Here are a few ideas. (Some are probably too long.)
What are your ideas? Please comment below to help us pick out a tag line. Thanks!
We need to change the domain name of our current blog for grandparents ASAP. We NEED your input.
A large part of our content is focusing now on helping grandparents learn about cool technologies they can use to connect with their grandchildren. We live in a marvelous age of technology. But sometimes it can be intimidating: the internet, email new websites, inventions, cool tools, state-of-the-art, newfangled gadgets, and other technology. That’s why we are creating a new and improved website and blog. We will offer free information and tutorials that show grandparents exactly how to use cool stuff. Grandparents are cool! We don’t want them to be left out while the grandkids are enjoying the 21st century.
We need ideas for a domain name that suggests this concept of grandparents and technology. Here are a few suggestions.
[Note: Red items have been recently added. The color does not imply any preference.]
Please keep in mind that the best domain names are easy to speak, easy to remember, and not too long.
Please enter your wild and creative ideas in a comment here. Thank you for participating in the Grandparent Project!
I coined a new set of words, “Grandsource”, “Grandsourced”, “Grandsourcing”. It’s a derivative of outsourcing and crowdsourcing.
grandsource |ˈgrand-sôrs|
verb
obtain (goods or a service) from a crowd or group of grandparents : grandsourcing products and services from other grandparents | [as noun] (grandsourcing) grandsourcing can dramatically improve the quality of products and services. | [as past participle] (grandsourced) we have grandsourced this project.
More about Grandsourcing in Welcome to the Grandparent Project blog.
My wife and I are currently writing a book on grandparenting. It focuses on technology. What cool technologies are available to grandparents? How can it benefit their relationships with their grandchildren? How can grandparents learn how to use these technologies? The book will specifically discuss each of these questions and more. We will have easy-to-use tutorials that show how to use various technologies.
We also are developing a companion website, discussion forum, blog, podcast, email newsletter, and more -- all for grandparents. These will offer other ideas and tips.
The names for the book and website could be the same or different. What are your ideas for possible names for the book? Should the website have the same name?
Here are some sample ideas:
Please participate by posting a comment (below) with your ideas.
thanks, Shayne
The Grandparent Project is run by the husband and wife team of Shayne (Grandpa Shayne) and Tanda (Grammy) Packer. (See About Us). We are currently writing a book on grandparenting that focuses on technology. We are also creating websites for grandparents and grandchildren. (For more information, please read the project description on the home page.)
